The St. George’s Anglican Church has a long running breakfast program which helps feed those in need to ensure they can start the day in a healthy way. One of our club members is a member at St. George’s and brought the call to us. With the current economic challenges, the demand on the breakfast program is higher than ever and the program required an injection of funding to meet the need. The Port Dalhousie Lions Club is happy to provide a donation of $2,000 to support the 2023 breakfast program budget.
Donation to Community Crew
We’re proud to have been able to provide a donation of $2,000 to Community Crew, a local organization who provides healthy lunches to children across Niagara. Community Crew and their 80 volunteers serve over 4,000 lunches weekly to over 1,200 children across 30 schools in Niagara. Our donation provided 1,000 standard lunches, or 667 dietary restricted or culturally appropriate lunches to ensure that children in need are able to learn with a full stomach. Community Crew has their Lunchbox Gala fundraising event coming up with tickets on sale until May 19. You can get tickets by visiting their event page at: https://www.communitycrew.ca/gala/ Here’s a video that provides more detail on the great work that Community Crew does in our community and about their upcoming gala:
Donation to the Garden Club of Niagara
The Garden Club of Niagara was established in 1995 and works in various ways to provide beauty in our spaces, including at McFarland House where their volunteer efforts have created a beautiful garden and a strong partnership with Niagara Parks. The Port Dalhousie Lions Club is happy to support the Garden Club of Niagara with a $500 donation by way of the wife of one of our long-term members who volunteers with the program with the gardens at the Niagara hospital.
