Founded by Paul van Dongen in 1965, the Niagara Youth Orchestra is the premiere training ground for young orchestral musicians under twenty-five years old in the Niagara Region. Led by professional coaches and conductors who are affiliated with orchestras across the province, musicians in the Niagara Youth Orchestra receive extensive music education and performance experiences through regular concert seasons and special events. The Port Dalhousie Lions Club is proud to support this great organization and the work they do training young musicians with a donation of $484.
Donation to Friends of the Carousel
We are so spoiled to live in a community with such great history, and a key part of that history is the incredible Looff Carousel at Lakeside Park! Everyone has memories of $0.05 rides whether it be ourselves or our children (or both)! The reason we still get to enjoy this incredible marvel is the hard work of a group of volunteers that help maintain the amazing Looff animals every year so that the Carousel is ready in the spring. The Port Dalhousie Lions Club is proud to provide a donation of $220 to help support this team and their hard work this year.
Donation to Community Care
One of our key priorities at the Port Dalhousie Lions Club is supporting hunger relief, and Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold is one of our primary partners in achieving that goal. When we look at the report from 2024 from Community Care, the demand for their food bank services are staggering. The Port Dalhousie Lions is proud to be able to provide another donation for $1,526.42 to continue to help feed those in need in St. Catharines.

Donation to Tomorrow’s Voices
Tomorrow’s Voices offers barrier-free opportunities for kids who love singing to develop new skills, improve their self-confidence, and make meaningful connections with their peers. They practice weekly, and get opportunities to perform with globally recognized artists. The Port Dalhousie Lions Club is proud to provide a $500 donation to support this important program.
Donation to Coldest Night of the Year
Start Me Up Niagara is a critical support for the under-homed population in St. Catharines, providing warmth, clothing, food, job supports, bicycles and drop in services to those in need at the times they need it the most. The Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser shows support for their mission by walking on solidarity outside in the cold to raise money for these programs. The Port Dalhousie Lions Club is again proud to be a Supporting Sponsor of this important event with our $2,000 donation.
Scam Alert

Donation from Garden City Home Hardware
The Port Dalhousie Lions Club would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dennis and his team at Garden City Home Hardware on Fourth Ave in St. Catharines for their ongoing support. Throughout December, Home Hardware sold Christmas Trees with the benefit going to support the Lions and our work in the community. Dennis was able to join us at our dinner meeting on Tuesday January 14 where he presented a cheque for $1,000 to Lion Dennis and the Port Dalhousie Lions Club. Special thanks to everyone at Garden City Home Hardware for their ongoing support of our Lions Club and our work supporting those in need in our community.
